Sometimes it’s easy to control the candy villain inside of you, but other times, the candy in question is so good that it’s practically impossible to stop after one meal. Such is the case with Oreo truffles, which are very tasty and at the same time, very easy to make and using only three ingredients. In no time at all, you can whip up a batch of these incredibly delicious treats. These truffles are seriously addictive
what do you need
36 Oreos for truffles, plus more for topping (don’t use Double Stuf) 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened to room temperature 16 ounces candy or melted chocolate Biscoff Variation
What do I do
First, line a baking tray with butter paper. Place the Oreo in a food processor, along with the cream, and blend until smooth and crumbly. If you don’t have a food processor, you can do this by placing the cookies in a bag and crushing them with a nail or a heavy tin. Once the crumbs are in, add the cream cheese and mix in short batches until completely combined. If you are making this without a food processor, mix the cream well until completely combined. Make sure there are no lumps of cream cheese in the mixture. Start taking a tablespoon of the mixture at a time and roll it into a ball. Line up the balls on a cookie sheet. When you have rolled all the mixture into balls, place the tray in the freezer for 15 minutes or until firm. Meanwhile, crush the Oreos you’ll use for decoration and set them aside. Melt the candy or chocolate, being careful not to burn it. Take the balls out of the freezer and dip them in the chocolate. Use a spoon to fill in any exposed spots and then let any excess fall off the side. Place the covered truffles back on the baking tray. Top the truffles with the crushed oreos before they start to harden. Leave the chocolate, preferably in the refrigerator. I keep finished truffles in an airtight container in the fridge, but we doubt they will last for long. truffles oreo
There are many ways you can customize these truffles, so it’s really up to you how you taste and decorate them. A popular variation for the holiday season is mint extract, which can be added to cream cheese with a blender before adding it to Oreo crumbs, and finally mint truffles using mashed candy canes. You can use white chocolate to cover truffles and any other chocolate you like. You can also use mashed Biscoff cookies in place of Oreos, which also pair well with the white chocolate coating.
